Have *I* ever met the devil?
Yes, I have.
In fact, I have lived with the devil my entire life.
So have you.
(Don’t be afraid.) 🙂
Before I expound, I ask you to do some reflection.
Reflect back, if you can, to that moment… probably accompanied by great disappointment, maybe confusion, perhaps some anger… the very moment when you had great reason to suspect that there really was NOT, after all, a “Santa Claus.” Maybe one of the kids on the school playground let the secret out; maybe a sibling. (If you are a parent of young children, maybe you can remember their experience.) Perhaps your older sibling, or friend, or parent, the one who “divulged” the secret to you… perhaps you came to resent them for taking away the wonder, the awe, the happy anticipation that was associated with that great being, the saint of all childhood saints, the one who bestowed presents and joy on “good little boys and girls” on Christmas morning.
Can you remember your experience? Do you remember when the “veil” got lifted for you?
Well, if this was not YOUR experience, can you conceive of that which thousands of children go through yearly when confronted with the “truth” behind the grand enigma of that “jolly old elf?”
I now apologize before hand.
That which follows will potentially do the same thing. I will now proceed to “lift the veil” for you… IF you choose to continue reading, and IF you have an open mind. Though I so do NOT like to disappoint anyone, I am willing to risk your disappointment, cognitive dissonance, whatever your feelings might be …because I DO like Truth, Real Truth, even more. Plus, it is time. Humanity can handle the disclosure now. 🙂
I hope YOU can. 🙂
Though requiring and worthy of other posts to expound in detail, in brief: Mankind has been led symbolically through their developmental stages through the ages. Without the invention of necessary technology and lacking the breadth of experience, many code words have been implanted within the documents and messages that have been accepted as “philosophy” and “scripture” throughout recorded history. However, We now have the technology. Mankind has experienced a plethora of combined experience. And, we are on the brink of great devastation if the Real Truth is NOT made known. I will now continue to open these code words up to you.
(Please bear with me, you who do not care for scripture-ese. If you can continue with an open mind, you will be led to understand much about mankind, your self, and the traps of religion beyond what you could conceive otherwise.)
🙂 Here we gooooooooo:
Though technically not the same being, the words: devil, Lucifer, Satan, have been used interchangeably.
The Bible has many references to a life before this one, and a few references to this being:
“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!” (Isaiah 14:12)
Isaiah goes on to explain the conflict in heaven, which culminated in the War in Heaven, also a biblical doctrine. Lucifer, in his pride, determined to usurp the position of God, taking glory upon himself and thwarting the agency, or free choice, of man.
Now from the Pearl of Great Price. (Moses 4:6) “And Satan put it into the heart of the serpent, (for he had drawn away many after him,) and he sought also to beguile Eve, for he knew not the mind of God, wherefore he sought to destroy the world.”
It is explained from a careful reading of scripture that his purpose is to provide opposition between good and evil.
“And it must needs be that the devil should tempt the children of men, or they could not be agents unto themselves; for if they never should have bitter they could not know the sweet.” (Doctrine and Covenants 29:39).
Even the One revered by so many was confronted “in the wilderness” before he was prepared to go among suffering mankind and perform his mission. Yes, even scripture explains that “Jesus” was tempted in every way that we are. Later, in the Garden of Gethsemane he declared, “Nevertheless, not my will, but thy will be done,” thereby giving us a clue of the internal struggle within himself.
Yes, the serpent in the Garden, the “devil,” the spiritual being that confronts each one of us (even “Jesus”)… is the egoist aspect within each one of us… within our own head. When in peace and filled with happy, kind thoughts for humanity, this head is termed a “garden.” When filled with confusion, frustration, judgment and indecision, it is called a “wilderness.”
The tell-tale sign that one is listening to Lucifer is confusion. “Now is the great day of my power, I rule from the rivers to the end of the earth, none dare to molest or make afraid.”
However, there is a paradox here. Described symbolically as “two angels” that sit upon one’s shoulders, each truly wants to make us feel good. The one that sits upon our left shoulder, commonly illustrated as a dark being, is Lucifer, or the devil. Yes, even he wants us to feel good.
As long as “the devil” is allowed to “rule” our lives, we experience a sense of peace. As mortals, we are used to having him in charge, so we have a feeling of comfort. Truly, as the LDS Endowment states, Lucifer IS “the god of this world.” This sense of the peace that he offers is a “common sense” to most people in our current society. We have gotten used to having him in charge. Yet, the price has been dear. We have been paying with our lives, our happiness, our humanity.
Yet, when each of us decide to utilize him, not as a ruler, but as our SERVANT, that’s when all the attributes you’d expect: anger, revenge, pride, jealousy expose themselves. He fights for continued supremacy.
(Romans 8:7) “The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.”
Yes, Lucifer/ the devil WANTS us to, individually, feel good. The difference is, the good feeling is for US personally. It is also short-term. This “angel of darkness” that sits upon the left shoulder is also called the “natural man.” It is the Freudian “ID” part of us that gives us direction that feels good… temporarily, and is concerned about our individual and personal self and that which we identify with.
Now from the Book of Mormon. (Mosiah 3: 19) “For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.”
Jesus termed those that listen to and primarily obey their “dark angel” “children of the devil.” Joseph Smith, in his temple disclosure, hinted that they are “employees of Lucifer.”
Again, Lucifer is simply your mortal human nature, or that from which you gain your personal value and worth during this mortal existence.
Yes, the devil is quite a different person from what religious leaders say he is. Again, from Joseph’s Endowment: “They said the devil has claws like a bear’s on his hands, horns on his head, and a cloven foot, and that when he speaks he has the roar of a lion!” Yet, “they have said this to deceive you, because they too are in his employ.”
As much as those deeply and sincerely “religious” believe otherwise, religion does not allow the human race to fix what they messed up. Why? Because religious people are waiting for some sort of god to appear and fix everything. So when a person stands up to religion and says that there is no god, and conversely, that there is no devil who created the problems and that natural man is fully responsible for creating all of the problems, and natural man can solve his own problems, religious people get angry and upset.
Yet, once again: “I have met the devil and he is me.” Or rather, the devil is each one of us WHEN we choose to act for our own personal good and allow that to take precedence over the choices that benefit each of us (GOD) equally.
Now, for some of the *science* of the issue. 🙂
The war in heaven is: the interaction between two neurochemicals in the brain: dopamine and serotonin.
There are TWO TREES in the allegorical “Garden of Eden:” the Tree of KNOWledge of Good and Evil, and the Tree of LIFE.
In simplicity, most current mortals live the majority of their adult life thinking with, making decisions, and relating with each other… through the dopamine reward circuit in the brain. This leads to judgment, disappointment, anger, all while giving temporary “highs” and apparent pay-offs for thinking analytically and logically. This gives life its spiked affect with all the emotional ups and downs. The “fruit” that grows upon this mental “tree,” the “Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil,” is scripturally known as the “seven vices.” They are: “pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath and sloth.”
In contrast, the “seven virtues” are the “fruit” that grows upon the “Tree of Life.” These seven fruit are: “love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”
In a nutshell:
Dopamine gives temporary, short-lived good feelings that we can term pleasure. Dopamine’s pleasure is visceral. It is achieved alone. It is self-serving, concerned with taking, having. It is often achieved with substances. The extremes of pleasure all lead to addiction.
Serotonin gives long-lasting feelings that contribute to true happiness which is ethereal. Happiness is usually achieved in social groupings. Happiness is giving to others and cannot be achieved with substances. There is no such thing as being addicted to happiness.
Finally again, pleasure is dopamine and happiness is serotonin.
Pleasure is the fruit offered by “the devil,” and happiness is the fruit offered by “the savior.”
How do you unwittingly worship “the devil”? The more processed food you eat, the more dopamine you will make because it contains the precursors for dopamine.
Yes, most of mankind dig their graves with their forks. They are generally DEVOLving instead of spiritually progressing to their ultimate JOY. While many are seeking to feel good… happy… from their food choices, in their ignorance they are choosing otherwise. Instead, they have temporary pleasure and RAMPANT obesity, diabetes, depression, dis-ease, and death.
Instead, we can choose to eat from the “Tree of Life.” This “fruit” is inexpensive. In fact, it’s free! As we put down our cell phones and cut down on our social media and, instead, relate with each other face-to-face and heart-to-heart, our brains flood with serotonin.
Technology is one of the fruits that grows upon the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. It has offered our current society so much. But used unwisely, we are paying heavily for its assistance. The problem is, as dopamine goes up through technological contact, serotonin goes down. These various new modes of communication have actually made the masses of humanity unhappy.
Although the Bible calls our current culture “hell,” a more 21st century definition could be an “alternative universe.” Most of us are semi-robotic, alien creatures, living off of temporary “hits.” Yes, we are living in an addicted culture.
The most “religious” amongst us have deep dark dread of: tattoos, marijuana, alcohol, nicotine, cocaine. Yet, they ingest sugar, processed food, are addicted to the internet, shopping and (secretly) porn. Yet, each of these offer dopamine. When one addiction is “healed,” it is merely transferred to another…. The reason for this is because the dopamine pathway in the brain, the reward generation pathway, is the same no matter what your source of pleasure is. Without true healing, one vice substitutes for another. Dopamine is neurotoxic. You get a hit, you get a rush. The next time, you need a bigger hit to get the same rush. Finally, the neurons start to die. And so do you. Even, and especially, “religious” people who live in judgment (The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil) of others. Unwittingly, they know not whom they serve.
Conversely, there’s no such thing as overdosing on too much happiness. Serotonin does not do damage. In fact, you can’t overdose on happiness. The problem is there is one thing that down-regulates serotonin. It’s dopamine.
Yes, “the devil” / dopamine and judgmental thinking must be subdued. Although a helpful “servant,” the choices that stimulate dopamine release must become subservient to the choices that induce serotonin. Scripturally, “the devil” must be “bound.”
How does one bind “the devil”/ dopamine?
Sugar is the cheapest pleasure that we can get to stimulate dopamine. It is, in fact, addictive. It has become the cheapest of thrills. Everyone can afford it. Because of rampant sugar, carbohydrate, logical-over-thinking, anger addictions, our society has gotten less and less *HAPPY.* We’ve also gotten fatter and fatter. More and more sick. Now we have crises of addiction and depression. Many have sought reward at the expense of their own happiness.
Both legal and illegal drugs have been dealt with, widely, for society’s problems. Yet, they are each band aids. The only treatment that works long-term is FREE! We ARE what we Eat; and we have been feasting from THE WRONG TREE! We have been “worshipping Satan”… believing that he could save us!
The only “God” that can save us, our “Savior,” is the serotonin we create within our own self, upon our own neural tree. We create serotonin by eating from the “Tree of Life,” or better, by eating the “fruit of the Spirit” listed above. I have written extensively about how to do this under the theme of *how to love our self and others.* This is also known as “The Golden Rule” and the “Two Great Commandments.” (Please read and deeply ponder my other posts. Please. Please.)
Again, “Jesus,” in the “Garden of Gethsemane” gave the greatest hint of all: “nevertheless, not my will, but THY WILL be done.” Truly, as we live not for our own, individual, self-centered and temporary pleasure (dopamine), but for the long-term, global happiness of ALL HUMANITY (serotonin), we contribute to our own deep and lasting satisfaction AND everyone else’s as well.
As we listen to and honor our physical bodies (our “temples”), we will respond by: smiling, gentle laughing, listening, moving, serving, eating healthily. We will become our own physician. We will become happy. Humane. We will live simply, making our “brother’s welfare” our own concern. As humanity heals and each of our needs become addressed, our planet will heal likewise.
“Happiness is the object and design of our existence; and will be the end thereof, if we pursue the path that leads to it; and this path is virtue, uprightness, faithfulness, holiness, and keeping all the commandments of God.” Joseph Smith Jr.
HAPPINESS, lasting happiness, is NOT found administered through any philosophy or religion. It is experienced “by the laying on of hands,” or, better, by our pure actions. I will soon expose more of this issue and why Religions are the BANE of TRUE happiness.
The implanted “code word” of “Santa” can be correctly reconfigured as “Satan.” If I have brought you disappointment from revealing that there is NO Santa NOR Satan outside of your own egotistical self, I do it without apology. Please ponder deeply upon what I have shared. I will disclose more in the future.
Love your self, your true and abiding Real Self.
Love all others likewise.
In my pursuit of Real Truth, I have given up everything. Crawling through the “eye of the needle,” I have learned the *mysteries* and am now giving my life to assist YOU to dis-cover Who *YOU* really are, along with your unique gift to offer humanity. As you learn to seek (in the right place and with purified intent), you WILL find treasures of lasting value, along with every promised reward.
