Yesterday’s Christmas post relayed the story and the power of the Christmas classic “Silent Night.”
In all the Noise and BUSY-ness of life, and with so many in our “advanced” society focused upon frantically go-ing and do-ing, this simple and beautiful song, the producing of pure vibration, is a rare and a rich treasure. Music composed with pure intent leading to pure high vibration has power to change the world.
So does Silence.
Because silence goes unheard… by most… many are ignorant of its power and potential, unaware that the sounds that reside in silence are creating… or degrading… our world.
It is this invisible realm, the domain of SILENCE, which Jesus exemplified Mastery of. The Sermon on the Mount, the “Stairway to Heaven,” is the path each mortal must learn to walk to utilize correctly the silent energy of emotion. Few yet realize that energy in motion (E-motion), whether repressed or expressed, still over-lays the sounds and wisdom of still silence.
A lack of silence within one’s mind and heart is iniquitous. But what does this mean? It is only as one resides within one’s “Holy of Holies,” or better, that one’s awareness is rooted in a pure and warm heart, that there exists no iniquity. In Inner Silence, the emotions are stilled and peaceful while one’s heart is warmed and open. Though religions teach that “iniquity” is equated with great and abominable sin, they do not know, and therefore can not teach, why. There is no iniquity when you simply “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10) When your mind is racing in rage, confusion, worry, doubt, or fear, this is iniquity. Iniquity is a lack of “inner-quiety” in your mind. You are not being still within, thus, you are not capable of hearing the words of your pure heart, the “still small voice,” or rather the gentle vibration that whispers “YES,” pointing one in the direction that will assist the most correctly. This frequency, or tone, is the voice of one’s “Father,” heard within the precious depths of his or her being, in the “Holy of Holies.”
The word “silence” comes from the Gothic verb “anasilan,” a word that denotes the wind dying down, and from the Latin “desinere,” a word meaning “stop.” Silence, then, implies interrupted action. Pursuing silence requires surrendering the chase, a submission of our individual will and vision of how the world “should” be to the will that Jesus exemplified, “THY Will be done,” or rather, living as an instrument to further the Good Of All. Silence means, then, a standing still, or even to take a step backward and look with greater objectivity and neutrality at life; to take a break in the circuit of busyness.
It is only when one is quiet inside that one is able to recognize and hear one’s inner pure voice and proceed correctly. This inner quiet is the state of mind that Jesus taught. THIS SILENCE… is the “at-one-ment,” or rather, the connecting of the body and spirit into an integral single instrument capable of divine action. This soft and gentle high frequency (tone) is accessed and heard when one is inwardly “still” and in alignment of heart mind and body. This is the true meaning of the word that religions have high-jacked as something that they, alone, understand: “the atonement.”
“Sound is a brute force” declared Daniel Gaydos, president of the Museum of Sound Recording. Holding a long-fingered hand flat in the air before his face and moving it slowly up and down, he continued. “That is a sound disturbance at two times a second,” he said. “Though you can’t hear it as sound. If you see a suspension bridge moving up and down once every two seconds, its pitch is half a cycle per second. We can see a vibration up to about twenty times a second. After that it starts to blur. When we can no longer track a vibration visually, we begin to hear it.”
Two days after I taught a small group of open-minded and child-like adults in a “re-parenting seminar,” Vicky called me up. Enthusiastically, she gushed: “I HEAR IT! I HEAR IT!” She then explained how she had employed the technique I had taught, with sincerity and pure intent, and had achieved the goal: she heard “the voice of the Father.” She had “parted the veil” and achieved her own “atonement.”
I had taught her and the others that one way I had discovered to more clearly hear this frequency is to lie down on Mother Earth, with as much skin contact as possible, basking in the light and frequency of the sun. Gratefully “drinking” in the light cleanses and harmonizes any stagnant energy. Then, going back inside, I more readily “hear” a high-pitched gentle vibration, letting me know that I am in alignment; I have tuned up my physical/ spiritual instrument and have realized, for myself, the “atonement.”
Silence triggers a kind of exfoliation of the everyday self.
Today, silence scares some who are afraid of what they might hear when the cacophony of the stressful busyness quiets down. Yet, what will they find underneath the static? Them self. “BE STILL, AND *KNOW*… that *I AM* GOD.” Truly, “Silence is golden.”
I have learned by watching others who are afraid of discovering who they Truly are, that for them, being alone… in silence… is terrifying. Noise and movement, then, is an attempt to wrest control of their physical senses while dulling their inner spiritual senses, remaining blind and “past feeling,” allowing the mind and its false self to retain control.
The Mind is a Beautiful Servant, but a Dangerous Master.
Mental Silence allows for the purity of heart to bring pure and intelligent thought. Again, in scriptural terms, this is called the “atonement.” Oneness and integrous alignment of body and mind, controlled by a pure and innocent heart, is what “the tone means.” This is the golden treasure of Silence.
Silence is not a cessation of noise, but a cessation of the inner chaos even amidst turmoil and cacophonic sound in one’s outer world. Silence is a lack of judgment that comes from understanding what appears to be because of the higher awareness of what IS. Our re-action is quiet; at rest. Silence allows for purposeful, intelligent, action.
“I come in a time when you think not.” (Matthew 24:44) When the mind is stilled and realizes its rightful place as the servant of the heart, then in that stillness and silence, one knows who he IS and can “hear” or “feel” or “understand” in that silence, the path to take. True power and mastery of one’s situation comes in a time when the mind is the servant of the calm and trusting heart.
Those who are silent inside can walk into a room filled with chaos and be as kind and gathered as though they’re with a baby. The world is a place of wonder and they have an inner confidence that anything they come to they have the inner strength to flow through.
When one attempts, like Vicky above, to quiet and still the iniquity (lack of inner quiety) and become silent and still, layers of their counterfeit, society-enforced identity peel off. Slowly, the false adaptations empty, until finally, they arrive at their core. Within that silent core, they find the other pieces of their True Self. Only in quiet inner stillness can we hear our tone and tune up, letting it fill and regenerate each organ, tissue, cell, and atom. This is how we prepare ourselves to participate in the universal celestial symphony. This is having a “sound mind,” a mind capable of hearing the still small voice of pure frequency.
Silence is for bumping into your Self.
Whereas Babylon (babbling on) is the main highway to frivolity and licentiousness, Silence is the quickest route to solemnity, Knowing Who we Truly Are. Without silence people have no idea how to understand one another. All is discord, mindless chatter, and confusion, regardless if the words spoken are considered the same language or not. Intelligent decisions can only be made when we stop allowing difficult decisions to be made by discussion or mental conversation. Noise and mindless chatter guarantee confusion and ensue because of iniquity (lack of inner quiety).
Silence allows one’s self to unplug from the mental story we are constantly telling ourselves and others, in order to be completely attentive to the wonder of the ever-unfolding present moment.
Neuroscientists at Stanford University have demonstrated that when we listen to music it is the silent intervals in what we hear that trigger the most intense, positive brain activity. This reflects the way our brains are always searching for closure. When we confront silence, the mind reaches outward. Vinod Menon, a neuroscientist who has done extensive fMRI studies of people listening to music: “The peak of positive brain activity actually occurs in the silent pauses between sounds, when the brain is striving to anticipate what the next note will be. The burst of neural firing that takes place in the absence of sound stimulus enables the mind to perform some of its most vital work of maintaining attention and encoding memories…. Silence is golden.”

With our outer physical senses extinguished, or turned down low, we are better able to see, hear, feel, smell, and taste of the real inner world, feasting at a table prepared with the “spiritual fruit,” and the refreshing “living water.” In silence, we are capable of hearing and understanding the “Word” as we delight the only senses that are real.
We seal our lips in order to draw closer to the truth of who we really are; while shouting is an attempt to acquire earthly clout.
To-morrow, and to-morrow, and to-morrow,
Creeps in this petty pace from day to day,
To the last syllable of recorded time;
And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle!
Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Make sure before you speak that the message you deliver is more precious than the silence you displace.
