I awoke this morning, the final time, about 6:15. My mind instinctively went to: “Oh, it’s a new day.” And then… “Thank you, God!” The temperature was just right. The open windows and fan overhead gently moved the air. I was comfortable, safe. I realized that my daughter in the next room was, likewise, comfortable, safe. The friend in whose home we are staying was also, hopefully, comfortable, safe. I felt gratitude for this moment in time, this sensation. Gratitude then led me into snuggling deeper and sighing, a smile on my face. Reflecting on the goodness of life, I heard the words within my silent heart: “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” Again, “Thank you God.”
I focused on the warmth of my grateful heart; focused upon how that sense has guided me throughout quite a rock-strewn path. At times I have stubbed my toes, fallen down, banged my head. But each time, I have stood back up, continued forward, following the guidance of my warm and grateful heart.
As I pondered all this, reveling in my gratitude, I then heard the words of my direction from April 22, 2001: “You can serve me the MOST where your heart feels the most comfortable.” I share that experience at: Kimberly Davis Wallis’ answer to If you left the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, why did you leave? At the time this phrase was given, it was then repeated three times, and as it was, I was directed in my thoughts to begin questioning just WHERE my heart felt the most comfortable, realizing that this MOST COMFORTABLE FEELING of my heart is this ineffable “JOY.” Throughout the years, this voice, this directing, questioning voice, has become more steady, more relied upon.
As I lay there and reviewed my mentoring in following my heart through ever-contrasting experiences of “comfort,” I allowed myself the luxury of wallowing in my JOY experiences. My mind flooded with many precious memories; each one filled with tender union and the resultant JOY. None of them experienced completely on my own. Some of them were shared with one or more mortal “others” who had likewise attuned their own heart to gratefully expand and receive along with me. Other experiences were with un-seen “Others.”
I have felt JOY when:
Nursing my infant in a rocking chair.
Watching my well-trained pre-school children quietly and respectfully play together within a stimulating atmosphere that I had provided.
Leading various groups of youngsters in songs of wonder, awe, happiness and peace.
Dancing in my “Beloved’s” arms; the rest of the world having melted into nothingness.
Holding him after intimacy.
Teaching those in my parenting seminars as I watch the “light” go on within them and see their renewed Hope and wonder.
Demonstrating how to literally see and recognize “intelligence” within the atmosphere with one’s own eyes… and having the other “get it.”
Listening to my granddaughter with confident pride play a song on the piano that I had taught her.
Having the memory restored of my pre-birth experience of accepting my role and my resultant “YESSSSSS!”
My experience in June (18th) of 2016 where I was surrounded by divine beings as their equal with a sense of the honor of Me.
Other precious, sacred experiences that I have had throughout the years where I was given validation, hope, and instruction.
Witnessing my beautiful daughter give birth to Her beautiful daughter.
Watching and assisting our precious cat Pearl give birth to healthy offspring.
Watching those little kitties go through their childhood, playing and enjoying, and discovering the world together.
Experiencing the home-coming of my son from his LDS mission; observing his siblings emotionally welcome him back.
Holding my precious children in times of deep union.
… and more.
“Men ARE that they might have JOY.”
You know this.
I know this.
Something deep inside (You and Me)…
something deep inside each of us is continually measuring each feeling either of us experience against an invisible bar. “Is she there yet?” “Getting nearer?” “Moving further away?”
We are programmed in, literally came into existence… to have JOY. Period. No other emotion will do.
We each intuitively KNOW this requirement. This expectation. This “bar.”
Yet, failure to measure up eats us alive. Literally.
We are continually judging ourselves against the invisible yet very real level established upon our initial inception.
As I continued my communion experience this morning, luxuriously realizing that time was not in limited supply, I continued to reflect. Though JOY is the reason for each of our Being, it is so often misunderstood and counterfeited. Yes, even “faked.”
In fact, I pondered once again, how misunderstood is the entire realm of feelings and emotion. Basically, our feelings are our feed-back system, programmed in to guide us through our choices in life. But this feed-back system is incompletely or incorrectly programmed in within most. Even those who are more emotionally mature so often misunderstand how to read their inner gauge of feelings. When programmed in correctly, this feedback system is our “enmity” or our empathy, giving assistance in how to proceed upon our own emotional journey and assist others correctly as we do.
Although Joy is often exchanged for the word or concept of “happiness,” it is not happiness. No other life form can experience joy.
But you and I exist to experience it. ONLY.
“Joy” is the result of a human acting upon a thought and receiving a re-action that meets their desire when there exists the possibility that the expectation might not have been met. (Re-read this many times and think about it! It’s vital to understanding the difference between humans and other forms of matter.) Again, joy comes from knowing what we expect from an experience, but not knowing how the experience is going to play itself out, and then having the experience end how we expected it to.
In explaining the concept of “Joy,” Joseph Smith taught: “And that same sociality which exists among us here will exist among us there, only it will be coupled with eternal glory, which glory we do not now enjoy.” (D&C 130:2)
Joseph did not write, “society,” but used the word, “sociality.” A society is the existence of a group of human beings interacting with each other. Joseph’s “sociality” is the way that people socialize and interact with each other. A perfect world is where human beings are treated and treat other humans in such a way (sociality) that there exists joy. But Joseph clued us in when he wrote, “it will be coupled with eternal glory.” He earlier taught the people that “the [eternal glory] of God is intelligence, in other words, light and truth” (i.e., real truth). When in a perfect world, we exist as advanced humans and communicate with each other, treat each other, and allow ourselves to be treated by others (sociality) in the same manner that we do upon this earth, for the most part. But the way that we treat each other and allow ourselves to be treated is “coupled” with intelligence, or rather, a knowledge of the real truth.
Upon earth while mortal, the quintessential experience that brings the ultimate feeling of JOY is orgasmic union with a beloved partner. During intimate union, oxytocin floods through our system and brings a state of bliss… JOY. HOWEVER, like everything else in this temporary world, JOY within the world we are moving towards, occurs in reverse. When we bring our self up to the highest emotional vibration… JOY, we then find our self in UNION with other divine beings within that divine society.
Again, here in mortality, UNION → JOY. In the eternal world, JOY → UNION.
Here’s how it works:
No matter the situation in which we find our self, IF we can honestly sense, feel and honor our current feeling… and shift that feeling up and up and up into an ever higher vibration yielding a more and more enlightened view, we will eventually find our self upon the top of the emotional mountain. This was the “stairway to heaven” that the one known as “Jesus” taught. See my link of *The STAIRWAY to HEAVEN*
This document is the most profound ever written. It is YOUR ticket to JOY. Its message is intended to SAVE You… and each one of us…. and REDEEM us into a state of continual JOY.
Matthew 5: 3 says, “Blessed are the poor in spirit who come unto me…” Here we have the bottom rung of the ladder. Here is a situation where you realize (because you are looking within and being honest with your self) that you are “POOR” in spirit. In other words, you lack JOY. You are in the red in your emotional bank account. You have a deficit of spirit. BUT, having realized that you don’t feel as good as you WANT to feel, and by taking upon yourself the responsibility of how you feel (not with drugs, attempting to steal from another’s spirit, sex, shopping, sports, or any of the other temporary appeasements that many turn to now a days), you “come unto me.” Better, you search for a way to see your present situation as a temporary state and not indicative of who you Really Are. You KNOW that your spirit is intended to feel good. Really Good! And so you search for a thought that brings a better spirit, a higher feeling.
When you achieve a slightly better way of feeling, you then continue up to a higher and higher and higher and higher feeling, moving from perhaps: humiliation… to blame… to despair… to regret… to anxiety… to craving… to hate… to scorn… to affirmation… to trust… to optimism… to forgiveness… to understanding… to reverence… to serenity… to bliss… to ineffable (which is also known as)… “JOY.” And you have arrived! Step by persistent step. Upward and onward. Taking responsibility for each feeling, you have chosen each action (thought) to stretch you into a higher state of being (spirit) which brought you a greater feeling leading to an even more appropriate action (thought)… upward and onward until the summit: JOY.
Although previously “poor” in spirit, you have now opened up to yourself the hidden “treasures of heaven.” You have discovered WEALTH through an excellence of spirit; eternal and precious, the “Pearl of GREAT Price.” This is your birthright, your divine inheritance!
Often, people try to fake themselves and others into believing that they are at the top of the mountain of human experience, feeling the greatest sense possible. But they are not. They have instead climbed the counterfeit mountain of “worldly success” and have attained the honors and glory of the world. They may be in the limelight for a moment or a few decades even. But they do NOT experience JOY from having climbed that True Spiritual mountain.
You KNOW that you have innately desired it. You have sought it. But, somehow, JOY has lain just outside of your existence.
But it needn’t anymore. You now know how to Really experience the ultimate human emotion: JOY.
And you can. Really. It is your birthright. 🙂
In my pursuit of Real Truth, I have given up everything.
