This is a trick question. 🙂
To be “absolute” is to be pure, unadulterated, whole, complete.
To “exist” is to be INcomplete, Impure, adulterated, to lack “Realness” and yet to SEEM real.
Picture, if you will, the difference between a hologram and a 3-dimensional, dense object. The hologram may look every bit as real, even move and appear to talk, yet from a mortal perspective, it would lack materiality. Similarly, that which exists differs from that which is absolute and real.
You see, that which is ALIVE and REAL and that which EXISTS is not the same.
What is alive and real is True, it is authentic.
And, Truth is things as they were, things as they are, and things as they are to come.
Since “things” within our shared mortal experience at this time are born, change, and die, then these “things” that we experience with our 5 senses are not really alive… they merely exist. Yes, that includes “you.”
You exist, but are not yet Real and Alive.
(Please do not take offense, but keep reading and understanding may come. So will LIFE.) 🙂
Do you remember the story of “Pinocchio?” Pinocchio represents a human being, one who breathes, interacts with others, moves to some degree or another and seems to be a living, breathing being. However, he is not. Pinocchio is a puppet. His strings are being pulled by others outside of himself, even without his awareness. Yet, deeply implanted within him is the very real and compelling drive to “become a Real Boy!” Pinocchio senses that there is something elusive missing. And so do you. When deeply honest with one’s self, one realizes that they are not yet alive, but merely “existing.”
To BECOME “alive,” in scriptural terms, is to be “born AGAIN.” One can picture a tiny flame within that says ‘I AM!’ This awareness is an investment into a truer, real-er, more complete, whole, Holy version of them self.
To be born “of the flesh,” one is “of the flesh” or, “carnal, sensual, devilish.” To be born of the flesh, one exists.
To be born “of the spirit,” one becomes Alive and Real. They are True! This is what is so very misunderstood by “Christians” as the “second birth.”
Being around people who ARE “born of spirit” can stimulate one’s desires, just as Pinocchio was stimulated by his father, his creator, Geppetto, but it is requisite that each of us reach deep withIN with an eye single to realizing his final “delivery” into a whole new world… a world of Spirit and Truth.
When Jesus told Peter, “don’t tell any man who I am,” he was actually speaking a hidden truth. Peter could NOT reveal truth to another until that other opened up his inner ears to hear and his true heart to understand. Without the sensory equipment, one might look with their physical eyes and believe they see, listen with their temporal ears and think they hear, all while Really being blind and deaf.
To become Real and Alive, as Jesus was informing Peter, requires one to become broken and humble, realizing “I don’t love well.” When one opens FULLY, they may receive fully. One must diligently seek for, ask, knock for one’s personal change of heart in order to become Real, Alive, and Born Spiritually.
Even after this experience, there is a learning curve while one develops a new appetite and new habits, replacing the “old man” and his carnal appetites, desires and passions for those which maintain Life.
In the Book of Mormon, the “Lamanites” received a “mighty change of heart” and they “knew it not.” Yet, each slowly began to realize that the world as they knew it was shifting. Their perceptions and understandings were changing. They were developing into a newness of life, taking upon them a more buoyant, light, spiritual point-of-view.
To “exist” is to live in a state of mind of “justness” and “fairness.” To “exist” is to rely upon one’s five mortal senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch, along with the sixth sense of mortal thinking. To exist is to put stock in the veracity of these characteristics in being of assistance as one maneuvers through mortal experiences.
To be Alive, Real, Absolute, Authentic, is to NOT put stock in the sensory world but feel for, live for one more real, yet less dense and, though overlapping, somewhat beyond the six mortal senses.
At the following link, I share what until recently has been a very personal, sacred experience that I have kept within my heart wherein I reveal publicly my “second birth.” If you choose to read, you will see that I left behind the life of “existing” and entered into life Alive and Real. If you read this post, I implore you to read without religious “lenses,” but to open up your own mind and heart and let my words sink in. https://www.quora.com/Joseph-Smith-in-his-first-vision-states-he-saw-an-angel-many-angels-the-lord-a-personage-etc-which-one-is-the-official-version-and-why-so-many-different-first-visions/answer/Kimberly-Davis-Wallis
What absolutely is Real and Alive is that which does not change but is eternal and enduring. Can you pick out any “mortals” who fit that bill? 🙂 Please note: there ARE “angels among us.” Look for them. Become one. Relinquish your grasp on the physical world and that which your senses perceive and look beyond… to the absolute.
