(This is the FOURTH in a series of posts about PAIN. Please read the three posts on Pain immediately preceding this one in order to get the entire, flowing concept.)
So, for what purpose do we have emotions? I propose that the reason for emotions is to allow for experience with others upon this plane of existence where we can exercise ever greater degrees of awareness and make choices which will ultimately carry us from the animalistic “fallen man” state into the realm of POWER, the eternal state of our Divinity.
With the ultimate degree of emotional mastery having been learned and maintained, one is then able to control not only one’s own mind, but the material particles of which she is made, extending that mastery out into the environment itself. As such, an empowered one becomes a conscious co-creator of Heaven upon Earth, a state in which she is then completely free to live and interact with others of like nature for as long as she so chooses.
And… how do we do emotions in a way that is healthy, constructive, and contributing to our long-term good AS WELL AS the good of all present and future inhabitants of Earth?
Foremost, in order to tune-up one’s reception to energy-in-motion (emotion) one must consider a typical radio receiver. If correctly built with the sensors and wires all accurately connected, then the dials must be aligned with the program one chooses… only. If there is any “double-mindedness,” then static will ensue and one’s reception will not be clear, the volume will be low and indecipherable. It is, thus, imperative that one determines conclusively what one Really wants and become unadulterated in one’s desires, appetites and passions, overcoming each and every lower-quality so that “single-mindedness” and “one mind” and “one heart” reign in one’s life and decision-making.
A classic Japanese tale speaks of a belligerent samurai who once challenged a Zen master to explain the difference between heaven and hell. The monk replied instead with scorn: “You’re nothing but a lout… I can’t waste my time with the likes of you!”
The samurai, with wounded pride, flew into a rage, pulled his sword from its scabbard, and yelled: “I could kill you for your impertinence.”
“That,” the monk calmly replied, “is hell.”
Startled at seeing the truth in what the master pointed out about the fury that had him in its grip, the samurai calmed down, sheathed his sword, and bowed, thanking the monk for the insight.
“And that,” said the monk, “is heaven.”
The ability to see above and beyond one’s emotional state and egoic self-centeredness is the crucial difference between heaven and hell. There is a vital difference between being caught up in a feeling and becoming aware that you are experiencing a feeling and consciously choosing how to best deal with it, in a state of mastery.
Both Socrates and Jesus, drinking from the same consciousness well, taught that the keystone of emotional intelligence is to “Know Thy Self” and be aware of one’s own feelings, mastering them, as they occur. This, too, is the well from which I drink. This well is the fount of “living waters” from which I invite ALL to drink. It is my task at this time to invite and show you how.
Consider that, opposed to mortal competitions, where only ONE successfully achieves the “Grand Prize” and is awarded the trophy… the BODY, perfected, glorified, and (conditionally) immortal is awarded each one of us initially during our first incarnation. The choices one makes determines the degree of “fall,” incurring dis-ease, lack of memory, and finally what has been termed “death,” but is merely indication of one’s failure to successfully finish the race in that carnation and one’s opportunity to give it another try. Thereafter, the task becomes one of re-membering one’s initial state and re-turning to one’s pure essence, yet now one’s return is with the jewels of wisdom one has collected upon one’s journey.
As one completes his degree of emotional maturation, then that purified and mature spirit within is capable of transforming the fallen physical body back into its equally mature and perfected state where they then eternally fuse and become One Divine and Immortal Being. This is perhaps best captured by ecstatic lovemaking, the merging of two (spirit and physical body) into a fluidly harmonious and JOY-filled ONE; the Cosmic Marriage of “husband”/ “bridegroom”/ Holy and mature Spirit… and… “wife”/ “bride”/ perfected and glorious Physical Body.
Can you imagine living in such a state of grace where excellence becomes effortless, where one feels immersed in relaxation of such spontaneous joy… within a sociality of others of like degree? I have been “There.” I have felt that degree of Joy… often. I have seen and experienced “Them.” And, most importantly, I have deferred the completion of my “trophy” in order to return to finalize my ascent… as I take all of you who will enter back with me.
Yesterday, I was accused by one who has read some of my posts as being “arrogant,” of not admitting my earthly “foibles and weaknesses.” Reader, please know: I agree to being weak and having earthly foibles! I realize I come across as proud, yet it is certainly not a pride in what “Kimberly” by herself can accomplish. Left to my own devices, I am foolishly weak! But, having given up “my” (Kimberly’s) will and personal life, has opened up for me vistas beyond description, divine and empowered relationships, HOPE unearthly, and opportunities to dispense WISDOM beyond my own. “God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.” 1 Cor 1:27 “I know I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things.” – Alma 26:12 “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” John 5:30 And, because I live not for my own self, but the will of the Father which hath sent me, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (Together, we) can rise superior to every condition.” Philippians 4:13
If this sounds arrogant, I volunteer that you can read my words from a different perspective. My intention is to give HOPE… a “hope in Christ.” My aim is to “abase the elevated and elevate the abased” so that, as divine and empowered EQUALS, as many as will join with me can enter into our shared paradisiacal future together.
In order to release those aspects of one’s self that are still of the “animal” nature, it is crucial to take responsibility for all aspects of one’s self. Again, pain of any kind can be a great attention-getter and way-shower. Please understand that care for one’s physical body is of utmost importance, yet not dictated from a desire for egoic attention and validation, but only from a pure desire to be a fit instrument with which the spirit within may make beautiful music. I have found that deep respect for my physical body dictates that I feed it correctly: mentally with thoughts, physically with “food,” actively through physical movement, and emotionally through feeling. Applying not only to physical food, but to each of these four categories is the following principle I received in a moment of profound clarity.
“Appetite is too precious a commodity to be exchanged for mediocrity.”
Please ponder upon this deeply, applying it to each of the following four categories. Here’s a view into my “appetites, desires and passions”:
Mentally: I keep affixed within my mind’s eye the pristine view of our future state, “heaven on earth.” I look for the good, the beautiful, the heart-warming experiences and opportunities, both my own and those reported or observed by others. These I note and promote. Though I do not look FOR contrary expressions of morality, when they are brought to my awareness, I utilize my Intelligent connection within to dictate how to proceed. Do I ignore? Do I make transparent by reporting? Do I look for whatever good I can acknowledge in the situation and “water” it to assist its growth? Always, my focus is upon assisting in whatever ways I have at my disposal to align the present temporary unrest with the eternal, pure experience of mutual camaraderie for all.
Physically: I listen deeply and continually to my body. My acquired taste-buds and habits are secondary, able to and often changing. What does my divine and holy body want? When and how much is appropriate? What source will be the most beneficial? I have determined that a very simple diet, with many daily hours of “emptiness,” is preferred by my body. It is important as well to keep my intestines empty, and my bloodstream pure, so I have learned how to address that issue daily in ways that work for me.
Actively: I move my body as I feel to as dictated from within. Shunning the term “exercise,” I instead choose to enjoy fresh air and movement in several different venues, but always in ways that enhance a relationship with another individual. Additionally, I thrive on “being still” and intently “communing” with my Inner Guidance Counselor. Thus, although I am often spontaneous as the situation warrants, I have extended times of quiet supplication for Intelligence and Wisdom. Intelligence refers to the present and future while Wisdom derives from collective experience of the past.
Emotionally: I have attuned myself to be continually aware of the slightest sensations. How do I feel? As such, I literally hear a hum of signal recognition within my mind. When the signal shifts, I realize that a divine message is coming through and I heighten my inner focus, picking up a pen and my journal to record it. It is paramount for me to maintain a tangible warmth of grateful, rejoicing peace within my rib cage that radiates out and affects all thoughts and experiences I magnetically draw to me. Truly, with my heart “in tune,” the thoughts I receive are in alignment with my inner vision and my actions and choices take me ever closer to realizing on a physically conscious dimension that which I so desire.
When I become aware of the slightest interruption to my inner vibrational signal, I pause and ask my Self for clarity. Often a message will come. At other times the hummm might be turned down so it is no longer physically discernible. I have found that by “earthing” (lying in the sun with as much skin-to-earth contact as possible) for several minutes a day, my antenna are strengthened. When I then enter into the home, I “hear” even more distinctly.
I continually am aware and subconsciously asking myself, “What am I feeling?” This gives me vital information. I then ask my inner divine Self, “Father, what do You want this E-motion to move me to do?” I may then receive specific direction. If not, I wait for an answer, knowing it will come. I keep my eyes and ears open and sure enough, a song will either come to me within or without, or I will overhear a phrase which contains a clue or literal assistance. Perhaps as I am reading, my answer will “pop out” to me. It might be that in a further conversation where I explore the topic with someone I trust, the words will come out through either my voice box or theirs.
As emotions are “energy in motion,” they are intended to move us to do something. When our sincere desire is to join with “Christ” at the summit of the Spiritual Mountain, the intention of each and every e-motion is to ultimately assist us to advance UP. Though we each have “fallen” to low levels of attitudes and feelings, by utilizing the guidance of our emotions with the intent of emotionally gaining greater understanding and control, we will “grow UP in spirit,” ascend to the pinnacle of our emotional mountain, and, thus, be capable of assisting others in their soul growth.
As I have written much, there is both a “Stairway to Heaven” hidden within Matthew 5: 1-12 as well as an “Elevator to Heaven” that I have been shown and written much on. I welcome you to see the link to the right on my home page as well as do searches (top right) for “Elevator” or “Stairway” to read what I have already shared.
Again, e-motion is intended to MOVE us UP our spiritual mountain. As we pay attention to the energy within, with our eyes single to assisting our self and humanity to heal and become “One,” then our movement is forward and to an increase in empathy, peace, and Intelligence. Jesus was moved with grief over Lazarus’ death. (John 11:17-45)
Paul tells us in 2 Cor. 7:9-11 that “godly sorrow brings repentance (a change of mind that moves us to neutralize the former wrong action with correct action) that leads to salvation (clear thinking and wisdom from our experience) and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.” Additionally, “See what this godly sorrow has produced in you; what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done.”
Godly sorrow, in juxtaposition to worldly sorrow indicates that one sincerely wants honest awareness of how one’s actions have harmed others and is willing to invest whatever is necessary to “clean up one’s mess” (make restitution). Because of this, one feels the emotion (grief, shame, whatever it might be) and “draws near unto me” (or “Jesus Christ” who is synonymous with the Real Truth of Who One IS). In other words, one feels the emotion, owns it, gratefully seeks its message, then asks one’s Inner Guidance for a higher perspective with which to view the situation regarding the feeling. As one gains clarity from this highest vantage point, inevitably wisdom and gratitude set in.
Each painful sensation or emotion is intended to MOVE us… UP-ward.
PAIN instinctively moves us to take our hands off a hot burner. When there is something painful in our lives, we immediately move to make ourselves not hurt anymore. This sensation is for self-preservation. However, it is essential when moving away from pain that we do not betray our opportunity for soul growth because a situation seems painful but, instead, are willing to enter into and move through pain that takes us to a higher consciousness level.
SHAME is perilously close to death, and one’s early experiences (such as sexual abuse) that lead one to feel shame hold tremendous sway over an individual unless and until one chooses to move beyond shame by choosing another way to look at one’s self and one’s experiences, one which contributes to less residual suffering.
GUILT moves us to manipulate and punish, both ourselves and, projecting that guilt outward, to “sinful” others. As we move beyond guilt we are able to learn from past choices to not make the same mistake twice.
GRIEF moves us to mourn our lack, having first experienced something/ one substantial. However, when one decides to look at and own their grief, they are then capable of releasing blocked energy through crying and letting go, so that something new can be born in their lives along with the opportunity to feel grateful for the memories and find wealth in the experiences. Thus, Jesus’ words in Matthew 5: “Blessed are those who mourn (grieve over something/one lost)… who come (move) UNTO ME.”
FEAR within animals or those operating from their animalistic nature moves one to “fight or flight.” Other fears might be paralyzing. Yet, fear can and should move one to see the former boundary established by one’s beliefs or former experiences, and move beyond them into further soul growth, with courage.
ANGER moves us to take some sort of action about a real or perceived injustice. It might be that someone is not getting a certain need or want met, thus anger can move us to necessary change.
COMPASSION moves us to help someone. In Mark 1:41, Jesus was “moved with compassion” to heal a leper.
JOY moves our energy outward to the greatest most brilliant degree, enabling others to be strengthened and receive hope through our high-level energy.
In the following chart, prepared by David Hawkins, the third column from the left shows the ranking of emotional states from the bottom (shame) up to Enlightenment.
As one studies and seers this list into one’s mind, then when working with an emotion, one is able to monitor the shift upwards by ensuring that the thought and emotion reached for (moved toward) truly is an Upwards Movement.
PEACE is an individual inner job and CAN NOT be attained through coercion or outside mandate. True emotional peace must be a single-minded desire that motivates sometimes what is excruciating advances in soul-growth. Peace moves us in ways that may not initially “look” peace-full. If “peace” is understood as merely: freedom from disturbance; or a state or period in which there is no war… this is not “True Peace.” In fact, many who ascribe to the words of Christ, misunderstand his teaching about peace. “I come not to bring peace, but a sword.”
At times, civil unrest, even revolution, divorce, discipline, “tough love,” etc. is necessary to move toward greater harmony. The sword spoken of by Jesus, is “real truth,” or that which is acknowledged from the summit of the mountain looking down.
Though many “spiritual lepers” wield temporary control in relationships, businesses, communities, and nations, and have gotten away with coercion, twisted stories, their warped and immature perspectives, this will not last. No matter how “peaceful” their lives may seem (by ones on the lower consciousness levels), their “peace” is but “passive-aggressiveness.” With the advent of the internet and with those who have previously lived in willing submission now learning to utilize their voices and speak up, peace will take on a different flavor.
Though perhaps creating temporary uncomfortable emotional waves, these “swords” of “real truth” being wielded in defense of the weak and young (“the abased”) and for our combined future, can bring forth a greater eventual peace for all, indeed, inevitably a “heaven on earth” for those who survive the present tsunami of emotional turbulence. This type of sword can even cause those suffering with unyielding “spiritual leprosy” to examine their self, their motives, work through the shame of being publicly exposed, and step into greater emotional responsibility.
A suggestion: find a quiet place where you can be alone to listen to the following song, paying attention to the message. View yourself as communicating this message to *YOUR* inner wise counselor; the one that speaks to you through your feelings.
P.S. And for the one (he knows who he is) who continues to betray the sacred revelations he was given to allow me to help him complete his spiritual healing so that he could “assist” and “protect” me and the Father’s Work, and has since chosen to instead twist the pureness of my intentions and manipulate stories about me in attempts to preserve his ego to those whom he could, instead, be assisting to come to ever higher levels of Truth themselves: there is so very much at stake. Please… don’t take one more step down that dangerous path. Please…
