Lesson 6: “I Choose to D.U.O.”
Finally, Grandma Kimberly begins to open up the “Golden Rule,” (“Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.”/ D.U.O.). She begins with the story “Bear Has a Story to Tell” (by Philip C. Stead and illustrated by Erin E. Stead) and proceeds to Ludwig van Beethoven’s masterpiece, “Ode to Joy,” teaching accompanying lyrics that she wrote. Grandma Kimberly plays an excerpt from Colorado Symphony’s Digital Ode to Joy. The link for the symphony is: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=p09hpKAv9Jc
Through examples and illustrations, Grandma Kimberly shares the three basic levels of the “Golden Rule.” Adapting “The Rainbow Song” (by Arthur Hamilton), Grandma Kimberly offers that, like the seven colors of the rainbow, we as individuals all beautifully belong together. Additional songs are repeats from previous weeks.
