Oftentimes… throughout his-story… one’s person’s experience of “reaching through the veil” and returning with “Light” has benefitted countless people, even changing hearts, making “time” stand still, and detouring the potential future.
The key ingredients required to “reach through the veil” are the vibrations of silence, stillness, and pure inner peace of mind; united with a warm and grateful heart; and clear focused intention on manifesting what is the “Good for ALL.” These are commonly phrased as having a “broken (opened) heart” and a “contrite spirit” and operated by “THY WILL be done.” In the most eloquent of all speeches, Matthew records symbolically what the one known as Jesus taught; that is, HOW to take each step of one’s life UPWARD into Mastery of Emotion and the acquisition of Humanity and Wisdom. Silence, pure and holy silence, creates a palette rich with possibilities upon which Light might paint her beauty and Truth, stirring the hearts and motivating others to likewise become not just recipients, but co-creators of pure goodness themselves.
Such is the story of the song “Silent Night,” the world’s most famous Christmas carol.
While in a contemplative mood after viewing actors present the first nativity the evening of December 23, 1818, and upon his walk home through the snowy Austrian Alps, Josef Mohr, the assistant pastor of the St. Nicholas Church, had return into his mind a simple poem he had authored two years before. Mohr felt impressed to request the church organist, Franz Xaver Gruber, to write a simple melody that they could perform the next evening, Christmas Eve, for his congregation. Since the church organ was out of commission, Gruber composed a simple song which could be sung with his guitar accompaniment.
When the organ was finally fixed a few weeks later by Karl Mauracher, a well-known organ builder, Gruber sat down at it and played the simple melody to “Stille Nacht.” Mauracher, feeling the humble majesty of the composition, made copies of the music and words, taking them back to his village, Kapfing, where two well-known families of singers, the Rainers and the Strassers, heard it, catching the spirit of its message. They then included the song in their Christmas repertoire.
After having spread the carol across northern Europe, the Strasser sisters performed the song in 1834 for the King of Prussia who mandated it to become a tradition for his cathedral choir each Christmas eve.
In 1838, the Rainers sang the song, still in German, outside of New York City’s Trinity Church.
In 1863, “Silent Night” was translated into English and then, eight years later, the song became included in Charles Hutchins’ Sunday School Hymnal.
Today, in more than 300 languages, countless individuals vicariously participate through song… for a few moments of time at least… as shepherds watching over their flocks by night while angels announce the birth of the long-awaited Messiah. (Luke 2:8)
Silent night! holy night!
All is calm, all is bright,
‘Round yon virgin mother and Child!
Holy Infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
In 1914, far from their homes and immersed within a contorted vibration called “war,” men who had been indoctrinated into two different belief camps could no longer be withheld from giving voice to the pure and simple melody. Setting aside their weapons and their mental programming, soldiers found themselves being compassionately moved into a “Christmas Truce” during what would come to be called World War 1.
Though there are some who prefer to nurse their wounds and grievances, others suspend their false mental programming for at least a few moments each Christmas Season and likewise, imagine what it would be like to be a simple shepherd receiving angelic news of the birth of One who would become King of all other Kings, Lord of all other Lords, the Redeemer of each man, woman and child on earth. What does it feel like to witness the first stirrings of One who will put an end to all human trafficking, all suffering caused by ignorance and vanity of the self-centered will? What Love would that require to be such a One? Or to join With that One? What Power? What Triumph of the Human Will?
And so, following yesterday’s post, I ask YOU:
Within YOUR mental Armageddon, which programming will triumph today: The culturally-programmed in right to vindicate and revenge your wrongs? Will you snub those who have “wronged” You, nursing your ego further… EVEN *IF* You are unequivocally *RIGHT*! ???
Will You “reach through the veil” of your own conscious mind and find your even deeper programming? Will you allow the holy silence of your pure spirit to remind You that we are each brothers and sisters of one eternal family co-operating in a temporary mortal experience together? Will You allow your humanity to triumph over your bruised ego?
In my pursuit of Real Truth, I have given up everything. Crawling through the “eye of the needle,” I have learned the *mysteries* and am now giving my life to assist YOU to dis-cover Who *YOU* really are, along with your unique gift to offer humanity. As you learn to seek (in the right place and with purified intent), you WILL find treasures of lasting value, along with every promised reward. Together, we will establish a society of humane beings and live life ALIVE, on PURPOSE, and with a sociality unequaled… because we will each BE and view each other as equally and profoundly DIVINE! Please… catch this Hope and Vision and join with me.
